We must empower every individual with a disability
To live with dignity in an inclusive society.”
With these words as our motto and the happiness of the kids as our only aim,
NSS Unit-2 is back with another fantabulous instalment of VIDHAIGAL.
This year VIDHAIGAL will be on 21th February,2020. One of its kind, this awe-inspiring event will be conducted in the Vivekananda Auditorium, of the College of Engineering, Guindy.

What is Vidhaigal?

Vidhaigal is an extremely unique and fun, cultural event conducted for the differently abled children of our society, so that they are also provided with an equal chance of relishing the elemental happiness of life like any other normal human being; since it’s not about rescuing people with disabilities, it’s about investing in removing the physical, cultural, economic, communication, mobility and attitudinal barriers that impede people with disabilities. Vidhaigal is a one day cultural extravaganza; throughout the day, several competitions and fun events are conducted for the kids, along with lunch, refreshments and transportation.

The concept of Vidhaigal was conceived and realised by the volunteers of NSS-Unit 2 of the College Of Engineering, Guindy.
NSS stands for National Service Scheme, which is a non-profit, personality development programme offered at the College of Engineering, Guindy, as a part of the Government Scheme; to its undergraduate students. NSS volunteers strive to play their part in improving the lives of socially and monetarily downtrodden people.
The inaugural edition of VIDHAIGAL was conducted on March 9, 2013. The first of its kind, the premier edition was named Vidiyal. The subsequent editions were later renamed as VIDHAIGAL!

Vidhaigal strives to play a small but a significant role in aiding these kids, by bringing to light their inner talents and is in turn considered as a blessing in disguise for the organisers as the happiness that we attain on seeing them ecstatic is inexpressible, as
“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
